During the use of black polyester slings, in order to ensure their stable performance, extend their service life, and reduce safety risks, it is necessary to pay special attention to protection against ultraviolet (UV) rays and the handling of acid and alkali environments.
UV Protection and Material Aging Control
If black polyester slings are exposed to a UV environment for a long time, the photoxidation effect will cause the fiber molecular chains to break, leading to problems such as hardening of the material, fading, and a decrease in strength. To effectively protect them, regular inspections should be carried out. It is recommended to conduct a visual inspection every three months, focusing on checking whether there is any whitening, powdering, or cracking on the surface of the slings. Once these problems are found, the slings should be replaced in advance. When the slings are not in use, they should be stored in a cool place away from light and avoid prolonged contact with halogen lamps, UV disinfection equipment, etc.
Tolerance to Acid and Alkali Environments and Risk Prevention and Control
Polyester fiber (polyester) has good tolerance to most inorganic acids and weak alkalis. However, when in use, it should still be noted that in an acidic environment, black polyester slings can withstand inorganic acids such as hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid with a concentration of ≤ 10%. Nevertheless, organic acids (such as concentrated acetic acid) will cause the fibers to swell. In an alkaline environment, long-term contact with a strong alkaline solution with a pH > 10 (such as sodium hydroxide) will cause fiber hydrolysis, resulting in a strength reduction of more than 30%. If the slings accidentally come into contact with high-concentration acids or alkalis, they should be rinsed immediately with clean water and then dried naturally. Do not dry them by baking or mechanically squeeze them.
